Zhuxiaohui benchmarks international advanced cases and strives to build a zero-carbon settlement in the country. It is also a benchmark for the Yangtze River Delta experience and Chinese models in the field of dual carbon. Through the Zhuxiaohui experiment, with settlements as units, mature technologies are used to form a technology chain integrating three technical models: zero-carbon settlements, waste-free settlements, and growth settlements. It is comparable to zero-carbon models such as Bellington and Copenhagen, and integrates applicable technologies to provide China with a replicable and popularizable "Zhuxiaohui zero-carbon model" to promote the creation of low-carbon communities, parks, and urban areas.
Zero-carbon settlement
Zero-carbon settlement refers to "carbon compensation" through multiple energy sources to achieve "multi-energy complementarity". The current settlement uses plate-type and tile-type photovoltaic panels to collect solar energy, while ensuring the white walls and gray tiles of the Jiangnan water village style; geothermal energy is collected by ground source heat pumps to provide cold and heat sources; green transportation uses hydrogen energy vehicles to further expand the production and research and development of hydrogen energy energy supply; the settlement also uses power windmills, biomass power generation and other technologies for micro-circulation energy supplement. The first phase of the settlement has been completed. It uses five clean energy sources, solar energy, geothermal energy, wind energy, hydrogen energy and biomass energy that are planned to be used in the future. Two sets of batteries are used to store energy to supply electricity to the settlement, and the surplus electricity can be connected to the power grid.

Waste-free settlement
Waste-free settlement, first of all, uses the waste bricks and tiles from the original building demolition and the surrounding old buildings to build the settlement during the construction process. At the same time, it uses an underground, miniaturized and decentralized sewage treatment system during operation, which is more suitable for energy-saving applications in cluster-type spatial distribution areas. The application of garbage biodegradation technology ensures that waste does not leave the settlement as a whole. The building also uses a large number of recycled and carbon-footprint traceable building materials in the insulation and heat preservation of the maintenance structure, as well as the interior decoration materials such as the base plate and ceiling, realizing the recycling of materials.
Growth settlement
Growth settlement refers to spatial growth. The planned land area of Zhuxiaohui Zero Carbon Science and Technology Innovation Settlement is about 180 mu, which will be built in three phases. The first phase of 10,000 square meters of buildings and environment has been completed. In the second and third phases, we will continue to integrate and optimize zero-carbon technologies more extensively. The second growth refers to intelligent growth. The settlement is currently conducting real-time carbon balance data monitoring, observing the work of various energy equipment, and continuously optimizing existing technologies and evaluating future application technologies.
China Eco-City Research Institute is the main force in the construction of ecological cities, and its ecological and low-carbon technology cooperation is spread all over the world. As the chief engineer of the Jiashan Demonstration Zone, Professor Shen Lei, the executive vice president, led the chief engineer team to explore low-carbon theories, methods and practices in the Yangtze River Delta region, with the goal of "ecological low-carbon cities and ideal human settlements", and provided replicable and popularizable advanced experience for China's low-carbon communities, parks and urban areas.
