Photovoltaic glass classification: photovoltaic glass substrates for solar cells generally include ultra-thin glass, surface-coated glass, low-iron content (ultra-white) glass, etc.
Photovoltaic glass classification. Photovoltaic glass substrates used in solar cells generally include ultra-thin glass, surface-coated glass, low-iron content (ultra-white) glass, etc. According to the nature of use and manufacturing method, photovoltaic glass can be divided into three products, namely, flat solar cell covers, generally rolled glass; thin-film battery conductive substrates are usually coated on the surface of flat glass with a thickness of only a few microns; lenses or lens glass used in heat-collecting photovoltaic systems. The characteristics and functions of these three products are completely different, and their added value is also very different.
Nowadays, the most widely used solar photovoltaic glass is high-transmittance glass, which is a low-iron glass, commonly known as ultra-white glass. Iron is an impurity in ordinary glass (except heat-absorbing glass). The presence of iron impurities on the one hand makes the glass colored, and on the other hand increases the heat absorption rate of the glass and reduces the light transmittance of the glass.
Iron in glass is introduced by the production equipment of the raw materials themselves, refractory materials or metal materials, which is impossible to avoid completely. People can only minimize the iron content in glass through production control. At present, the iron content of solar cell glass is between 0.008% and 0.02%, while the iron content of ordinary float glass is above 0.7%. Impurities with low iron content will bring higher sunlight transmittance. For the most widely used 3% in China, .2mm thick and 4mm thick glass, the visible light transmittance of sunlight generally reaches 90%~92%.
One of the most important components of solar photovoltaic glass, solar photovoltaic glass requires the glass plate to be highly transparent, so there are strict requirements on the iron content of silicon raw materials used to produce solar glass, and the Fe2O content is generally 140~150ppm.
Application of photovoltaic glass. It is reported that Germany is the first country in the world to use transparent flat glass as a solar cell substrate. German scientific and technological personnel installed panel solar cells as window glass on buildings, which can directly provide electricity to residents, and the excess electricity can also be input into the power grid. The initial development and utilization of solar cell glass soon attracted the attention of the United States, Japan and other countries, which accelerated the development and application of solar low-iron and ultra-thin glass.
